Hosting

I have several sites that I own. Actually I am not sure now how many, but it is a few of them (40 or more). I have learned about hosting the hard way. I built a website and hosted it with my ISP on Prodigy. I soon began making candles (a lifelong passion of mine) and selling them on the website. I found a host that was unreliable and probably ran by monkeys. Well.. maybe if the monkeys ran it, it would have worked.

I soon began researching hosts. Host after host went sour, closed or was investigated by the FBI. I didn't like the results I was getting. Sites would be unavailable when I was using them, I couldn't imaging visitors not being able to see what I wanted to sell them.

I am now using 2 webhosts. I am using Quality Host Online and Host Gator. They are both decent hosting companies. Quality Host Online (QHO) is pretty decent on their email support and will allow you to install your own SSL.

You will need to buy an IP for $30 and some patience (I will posting this article soon!) for installing your very own SSL. Host Gator charges $10 to install the SSL and the IP is $24 a year or $2 a month. Either way they are both about the same price for the SSL.

Let me know what you think or if you have a story to share.
